To Modify Default Business Rules for a Feature Type

The Business Rules page of the Placement Defaults dialog box is used to select default business rules for a feature type. These settings determine whether the placement rules for this feature type will be enabled or disabled when you assign the feature from the Features Catalog. If multiple placement rules are applicable to the feature, you can enable some or all of the rules or you can disable all of them.

If you want to specify business rules for the feature definition of a job default, you must access the Placement Defaults dialog box from the Job Default Assistant. For more information, see Modifying Default Geometry Properties for a Feature Definition in a Job Default.

  1. With the Features Catalog displayed in the Design Assistant, double-click the feature type that you want to edit to open the Placement Properties dialog box.
  2. Click the Business Rules tab to display the Business Rules page.
  3. To disable the placement rules for this feature, clear the Enable Placement Rules check box.
  4. To enable the rules, select the Enable Placement Rules check box and select a category of rules in the Category box. If multiple rules have been established for the selected category, select the check boxes of those that you want to enable.
  5. Click OK.
